She writes:

"The pieces are flying geese, "rooftops", rectangles and squares. The pattern is Inklingo friendly. I used Inklingo for most of the quilt."

Hexagon Bag / Tote

Jeannette from Down Under has made this gorgeous bag.
She writes :
I used 1" hexes and half hexes from collection 1 (editor's note : The same shapes are in the downloadable 1" Hexagon collection). The outside of the bag is hand pieced and the lining and pocket is machined. I hand quilted around the centre hexes and I used no 5 Perle black cotton at all intersections of the half hexes to put a large stitch along each seam with a black bead in the centre.
I hand stitched the handles on.
The bag measures 10 x 12"

Addy's Quilt - more Insanity

Lorraine in MI is working on an Insanity version with her sister-in-law. They are using the 0.75" hexagons (rather than the 0.50" ones the original pattern calls for). She writes :

We have more borders to add, but had to share our progress. This is for my SiLaw's granddaughter who loves red, stars and hearts.

There are not words to describe what a pleasure this project has been! Inklingo has made it a breeze to print and send and share in the stitching!

There are 3 more children needing heirloom quilts and we already have plans for those...all using Inklingo!

Red and White Houses

Jeannette from Australia is making houses.
She writes :
I'm sending a picture of some of the Little Red School House blocks that I have made into 10" blocks using 1"x10" logs from the Log Cabin Collection.
I printed 2 logs for each house block. One log separates the roof from the walls, the other log is cut as follows:
3.5" to separate the side wall from the front of the house and the rest of the log needs to be reduced to 1.25" wide by cutting on the dotted line on 1 side only otherwise when sewn between the gable and the rest of the roof on the angle it is too wide.
After sewing in place I trimmed it to size. The sky piece is cut 2.5"x10.5". I used 2 chimneys on the roof and the sizes for the sky pieces in between are 1 each as follows; 2.5" x 2.75", 2.5" x 3.5", 2.5" x 3.75".
I have pieced them using my machine and I have made 21 houses so far for a Quilt pattern on the cover of the Australian Patchwork and Quilting Magazine volume 8 number 7.
The blocks in the book are 12".
I am very happy with the way they are turning out and I thought may be someone else might be interested in this size as well.

THE Hexagon Quilt - Insanity FINISHED !!!

YEA. Linda D. has FINISHED her Insanity quilt.
She writes :
"My "Insanity" quilt is finished. I added two extra rows to the top and bottom and another row to each side so now there are 11,127 hexagons. My quilt is called "THE Hexagon Quilt". It was of course hand pieced and hand quilted. This quilt has been a real labor of love and got me through a very difficult period in my life. Thank goodness for Inklingo."

... and just in case you have forgotten. This is made with hexagons that are 0.5" to the side. That's right. At their widest, from point to point, these hexagons are just 1", and the side of each hexagon is 0.5".

Awesome, Linda. Just awesome.

Yin, Yang and Log Cabins

Mary has been having a ball with the Yin Yang collection, and some Log Cabin blocks.
She writes :

For the log cabin blocks, I used 1.5” cut logs which I had already precut several years ago when I cut different sizes of “all” my Orientals.

Quilt is 66”x 75”

Now, Mary, you might have used strips you had already, but just so the readers of this blog knows : You can make the same kind of Log Cabin blocks using the 1" Log Cabin collection.
And I think it is a gorgeous quilt !

Sue in Western New York state has finished a table-cloth using Inklingo. She writes :

The fabrics were in a package that I purchased at Quilt Market last fall.
The fabric is from Darlene Zimmermans Clothesline Club by Robert Kaufman. The kit is called Blue Ribbon Winner it is 60" square. I pieced the flying geese with Inklingo collection #2 - making the flying geese come perfect!
The instructions for the flying geese/star points is on page 66 of the Inklingo Handbook.

And a note : Collection # 2 is sold out, but you can make equally precise and easy Flying Geese with the 00B HST collection, which is downloadable and available :-)

Batik Hexagons

Carol writes :
I began this project because I wanted a small portable block that I could stitch by hand on airplanes, in waiting rooms and while watching TV. After laboriously stitching forty two English Paper Pieced hexagons I finally admitted to myself that I hated EPP. Then I discovered Inklingo. No paper templates, no basting, a running stitch instead of a whip stitch, far more accurate than EPP and the stitches never show on the front. The pressing is a dream and the quilt lies perfectly flat.

I couldn't use Linda's English Paper Piecing Rescue instructions because I used a glue stick instead of basting the papers onto the fabric. I put the forty two EPP hexagons away and started over with Inklingo. I has been quite a journey, but I am glad I didn't give up!

Wedding Signature Quilt

Pickled Clamshells

Jeannette writes :
The Clams are all hand pieced and the Flying Geese are machine pieced. The Geese measure 1.5 x 3". I used 1.5" HST from Collection 2 [ed. sold out, but the 1.5" HST is in the 00B HST collection too] and 4.25" unprinted squares for the Geese, and 9" Pickle Clamshells.
I am very happy with the way it all went together. It was easy peasy.

Patchwork of the Crosses - POTC

Shirl has finished her POTC top. Here's her story :

I just wasn't sure if I was going to have the 'AHA' moment when I first started this quilt so I just picked out some of the reproduction fabrics (Charlestown III- blues, browns, creams, beiges) I was using for my Dear Jane (I live in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia so Civil War stuff is really big here).

Like us all, the light bulb lit up and off I went; what I found out though was there weren't that many directional fabrics and consequently this quilt doesn't have that 'kaleidoscope' look. THE NEXT ONE : ))) will be brighter.... now the fabric shopping tips written in the POTC book make more sense and I see fabric with different eyes. You probably can't see it in the picture unless you zoom in, but 1st and 2nd row, 4th block over, all of the 3rd row, and 4th block in rows 4,5,6,7 & 8 have lighter bkground border blocks and all the little crosses bordering these blocks are solid; (same color as the connectors) the thought being that a subtle big cross would show. Next step is quilting the quilt and picking the design to help the big cross pop.

Wish me luck on my Dear Jane... the plan is to finish by the 2013, the 150th anniversary..... I put it down for the year I worked on POTC... I know I'll get tons of questions re Inklingo when I take it to Show & Tell. I have to figure out a way to make a teeny weeny POTC name tag block and put "Inklingo Rocks" right in the middle [VBG].

Tilde finished her Passacaglia-top.

It stalled for a long sewing-drought, but now it's finished. I used the 6" LeMoyne star collection all the way through, but it can be made just as easily with the Free Collection.
There is a (general) FREE pattern for how to make it with the FREE collection right here. Inspiration for this quilt was found in 'The Quilts of Lucy Boston' by Diane Boston.
Hand- and Machine-pieced.

I am working on a Winding Ways quilt using the 9" block. I have these 25 blocks finished but need 72 for the quilt. This is not the final arrangement, but I throw the blocks up as I finish them. This is to be a wedding gift for my daughter. She loves Japanese taupes, so I am using those, with a few red and blue punches. My goal is to have the quilt finished so I can take it on the plane to her marriage celebration in May

I have a long way to go, and I may have overestimated what I can accomplish in the time left!

Farmer's Delight Blocks

Cathi made this Farmer's Delight block using the Dresden Fancy Pieced collection.

The blocks finish at 15" and are really quite quick to put together as there's the opportunity for lots of lovely continuous stitching when putting the bands of triangles together that go around the centres of the blocks.

Cathi made this Winding Ways wallhanging using the 9" Winding Ways collection.

The curves are very gentle and with the fabulous matching points as well as the piecing and pressing tips in the Inklingo Winding Ways Design Book, this went together in no time!

It finishes at 8". It's an absolute breeze to stitch curves with the wonderful matching points.

I loved making this. I actually made 2 for twin beds in my guest room and they are identical. I am still deciding what I want for borders. I machine pieced this and particularly enjoyed placing each diamond to maximize the symmetrical effect. I did fussy cut the fabrics that were suited to fussy cutting.

These were sewn on the machine and went together so easily. The tumbler blocks are not sewn to each other as I will continue to add many more. Really like the way they look.

Jeannette from South Australia made this great quilt with the Circle of Swallows block.

She writes :

here is a picture of my latest quilt. It is made with the free Lemoyne Star and 3" hst's from Collection 2.

I hand pieced the blocks and joined them together with my machine.
The white background is stipple quilted and the border is a geometric design formed from the shape of the triangles.
It is machine quilted.
The quilt measures 41"x51" and the blocks are 10"x10" finished. .

Candied Hexagons

Tammi has started her dream-project. It's an elderly pattern from a now sold-out magazine, and it's called "Candied Hexagons".

She is using Collection # 3 to make the individual hexagons, and each hexagon finish at 3"
