Carole is making Feathered Stars too, and her version has a lacy (with a c, not a z !), elegant feel to it that I don't think I have seen before. I look forward to seeing more of this project !

More of Kathy's Owls
Another batch of Kathy's wonderful Owls.
This time, I recognize some of the non-owly fabrics, and remember them as being pretty ugly when I tried to use them. Amazing how the right person can make fabrics sing ! because after seeing them being used here, I'm (almost) sad that I didn't get more than a charm-pack of them. Cute blocks with gorgeous fussy-printing.

Sunflowers at Sea
Nancy in Alabama has made this beautiful little wall-hanging.
She writes :
I finished a small Double Sunflower quilt for my breakfast room. I used shapes from the 6" Storm At Sea collection for the border. The Storm At Sea is so versatile
Double Sunflower uses both the 6" and 12" Sunflower collections. And what a lovely idea to use the Storm At Sea shapes for the border.
Project is 16" square.
More Feathered Stars with Owls
Kathi also keeps on with her Owly Feathered Stars. They really are specacular. Notcie the pentagon centre in one ! (and please disregard that I couldn't find my way to turn one of them on its head, even though Kathi asked it). More of Kathi's Feathered Freinds Stars can also be found in this post.

POTC-Hexagons
Kathi has started making these lovely blocks, using her collection of Owl Fabrics. Must be a huge collection. She is using the 150 % POTC collection, that is, the larger size of the 90-degree hexagon shape that is also used in the Patchwork Of The Crosses. Try clicking on the individual pictures to see more details. It is worth it.

Carol used the 9" Winding Ways collection, and the quilt is 72 x 81"

Pickled Clamshells
Jeannette from South Australia is (once again !) quietly finishing one beautiful quilt after another. This one with Pickled Clams and Flying Geese.
Jeannette writes :
The Clams are all hand pieced and the Flying Geese are machine pieced. The Geese measure 1.5 x 3". I used 1.5" HST from Collection 2 [ed. sold out, but the 1.5" HST is in the 00B HST collection too] and 4.25" unprinted squares for the Geese, and 9" Pickle Clamshells.
I am very happy with the way it all went together. It was easy peasy.
Size of quilt 49.5 x 63"

Patchwork of the Crosses - POTC

I just wasn't sure if I was going to have the 'AHA' moment when I first started this quilt so I just picked out some of the reproduction fabrics (Charlestown III- blues, browns, creams, beiges) I was using for my Dear Jane (I live in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia so Civil War stuff is really big here).
Like us all, the light bulb lit up and off I went; what I found out though was there weren't that many directional fabrics and consequently this quilt doesn't have that 'kaleidoscope' look. THE NEXT ONE : ))) will be brighter.... now the fabric shopping tips written in the POTC book make more sense and I see fabric with different eyes. You probably can't see it in the picture unless you zoom in, but 1st and 2nd row, 4th block over, all of the 3rd row, and 4th block in rows 4,5,6,7 & 8 have lighter bkground border blocks and all the little crosses bordering these blocks are solid; (same color as the connectors) the thought being that a subtle big cross would show. Next step is quilting the quilt and picking the design to help the big cross pop.
Wish me luck on my Dear Jane... the plan is to finish by the 2013, the 150th anniversary..... I put it down for the year I worked on POTC... I know I'll get tons of questions re Inklingo when I take it to Show & Tell. I have to figure out a way to make a teeny weeny POTC name tag block and put "Inklingo Rocks" right in the middle [VBG].
Thank you again ladies, I am so enjoying this journey !
Shirl
And what a gorgeous quilt it has turned out to be, Shirl ! Congratulations.

Passacaglia

Tilde finished her Passacaglia-top.
It stalled for a long sewing-drought, but now it's finished. I used the 6" LeMoyne star collection all the way through, but it can be made just as easily with the Free Collection.
There is a (general) FREE pattern for how to make it with the FREE collection right here. Inspiration for this quilt was found in 'The Quilts of Lucy Boston' by Diane Boston.
Hand- and Machine-pieced.
Finished size : 72 x 96"

Pies and Tarts

Cathy in TN has started a quilt with the brand new Pies and Tarts collection. It's a collaboration between Linda Franz and Sue Daley. Cathy writes :
I'm sending a pic of my Pies and Tarts progress. Don't know if I'll ever geti t square as I just seem to keep adding in random fashion, but I think it's coming together nicely and is such a pleasure to piece. (I am hand piecing it).
Don't think it looks much like Pies an Tarts, so I am renaming my quilt 'Beachballs in the Sand".
Cathy is hand-piecing, and it looking real good so far, Cathy :-)

Alabama Beauty
Karen Dianne has just finished the binding on her Alabama Beauty quilt.
She writes:
"What surprised me the most wasn't that I tried something new .... [it] was that I had a tool that allowed me to create this amazing block."
Her quilt finished at 54.5 x 65 and is absolutely a beauty!

Tennessee Waltz

She writes :
I finally finished a project using Inklingo. The pattern is Tennessee Waltz. I used Christmas fabrics for the 65" square quilt which is a wedding gift for my nephew and his bride.
I used shapes from the 9" Storm At Sea and the HST collection.
I love how totally accurate Inklingo is.
Well, Nancy, looking at your quilt, your piece work isn't exactly sloppy either. Looks absolutely lovely and I'm sure it's going to be loved.
