Snack Quilt

Sue made this fabulous Snack Quilt using the 1.5" 60-degree hexagons which are in Collection 3 on CD and also available as a downloadable collection using the Snack Quilt pattern, which is available at Inklingo here.

This close-up shows the quilting Sue did on her Snack Quilt. Sue's Snack Quilt has a wool batting and was finished in 2010.

Drunkard's Path

Carol made this wonderful Drunkard's Path quilt using the Inklingo 2" Drunkard's Path Shape Collection.

She writes:

"The Drunkard's Path blocks were hand pieced. The borders were attached by machine. It has not been quilted yet.

The title 'Tangerine Trees and Marmalade Skies' is from the Beatles song 'Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds'.'

Octagon Stars

Cathi made this miniature quilt using the .75" 45-degree diamonds from the 6" Hunter's Star Inklingo collection and the .75" octagon and square from the .75" Octagon collection.

I was inspired by a photo of an antique quilt which was sent to me by a friend. I wanted to make a doll quilt for a friend who has an antique doll bed and this was the perfect design for it. I named it Candy Stars. It finished at 20" x 26" and contains 941 pieces. Hand pieced and machine quilted.

Pies and Tarts

Carol made this fabulous Pies and Tarts quilt using the Inklingo Pies and Tarts Shape Collection.

She writes:

"The blocks are hand pieced. The borders are attached by machine. The title is 'Summer Days' from the movie 'Grease' song 'Summer Nights.'

'Summer days drifting away to, oh, oh, the summer nights.'"

Yin Yang

Cathi is making this quilt which she has named "Memories of Smudge" using the Inklingo Yin Yang collection.

Smudge, our beautiful Maine Coon cat, used to curl up in a ball when he slept and I wanted to make a quilt in his memory. These colours do remind me of the various brown, gold and cream colours in his coat. And, if you look closely, you can see that each pair of blocks makes an "S" vertically - an "S" for Smudge. It's most evident in the blocks with the light cream fabric in them. The centre of the quilt is done, but I am still mulling over some border ideas.  Right now it is 36" x 30".

New York Beauty

Carol is making these beautiful blocks using the Inklingo New York Beauty #1 Shape Collection.

She writes:

"I have always admired the New York Beauty block - but I don't really like paper piecing so I've never wanted to actually make one. But as soon as Linda released an Inklingo version I just had to have it!

These are the first 4 blocks. It went together very easily. I am hand piecing them."

Circular Mug Rug

Cathi made this circular mug rug using the Dresden Plate Pieced Inklingo collection.

I love the pinwheel effect that this blade in the Dresden Plate pieced collection makes. I hand pieced and machine quilted it.

Alabama Beauty

Carol is making this gorgeous tropical version of Alabama Beauty blocks using the Orange Peel Deluxe Inklingo collection.

She writes:

"I have 18 more blocks to make for a total of 36 blocks."

Pieced Hexagons

Frummie is making 6" Pieced Hexagons using the 1.5" and 3" 60-degree hexagon and diamond collections. All but one of those pictured were made using those collections. The bumblebee hexagon was made using an enlarged version of a free pattern available from the Badskirt blog. Frummie enlarged the bee by 150% to have a finished pieced hexagon of 6".

Patchwork of the Crosses

Carol has made another fabulously colourful quilt, this time with the 1.5" 90-degree Inklingo hexagon collection.

She writes:

"The 25 blocks are hand pieced.  It has a 6" plain white border that was not attached when I took this picture.  It has not been quilted yet.

The pattern is an adaptation of Lucy Boston's Patchwork of the Crosses.  The title is 'Thoroughly Modern Lucy.'"

Tumbling Blocks Mug Rug

Cathi made this Tumbling Blocks mug rug using the 1" 60-degree diamond collection and half hexagons from the 1" 60-degree hexagon collection.

I had loads of diamonds from various swaps on the Inklingo list and, as I have always been intrigued by the Tumbling Blocks design, decided to make a mug rug. I wanted the light diamonds to be the same, so I printed some white diamonds to use and then just paired up the mediums and darks. Hand pieced and machine quilted.

Spool/Japanese X Quilt

Carol made this vibrant Spool quilt using the Inklingo Spool/Japanese X collection.

She writes:

"I used a total of 386 different fabrics. It was machine pieced using the Inklingo Spool block. It will be at the Quiltfest Jacksonville 2013 show in September.

The title is 'Besos y Abrazos' which means Kisses and Hugs in Spanish."

Rainbow Flower Table Topper

Rosa made this wonderful table topper that she has named "Frummie's Coffee," using the Inklingo Rainbow Flower collection.

Click on the photo to enlarge it and you will see coffee beans and cups and all sorts of coffee references!  What a great table topper!

Between Sunrise and Sunset

Carol made this beautiful quilt, which she has called "Between Sunrise and Sunset."

She writes:

"I used the Inklingo 1.5" 90-degree hexagon shape collection.  I didn't follow a pattern - it is my own design. It is hand pieced except for the borders.

I have entered it in the Quiltfest 2013 show in Jacksonville, Florida."

Yin Yang Wedding Quilt

Frummie made this gorgeous quilt using the Inklingo Yin Yang collection.

She writes:

"All pieced by hand. It is done with approximately 100 different batiks and given with much love to my little cousins for a wedding present."

Batik Sunflowers

Cathi is working on a quilt or possibly multiple quilts made with the 6" Sunflower Inklingo collection.

Each sunflower will use a different batik along with a white on white fabric. There is something immensely satisfying about making these blocks - the perfect stitching lines make them so easy to construct and each one has loads of continuous stitching opportunities and curved piecing.

Baby Stars

Barb made this adorable baby quilt using the star points and hexagons in Inklingo Collection 3.

She writes:

"Hand pieced while on vacation in my hubby's little apartment in Montreal.  I pieced all the stars while there.  And then it took me several months to finish once I got back home and life took over my quilting time!  But I loved piecing the little stars and have great memories of listening to audio books while stitching!  Inklingo is the best for inset seams!"

Tiffany Lamp New York Beauty

Cathi made this 36" x 42" wall hanging, which she is calling Tiffany Lamp, using all three of the New York Beauty collections.

I've always been attracted to and fascinated by New York Beauty quilts but, not being a fan of paper foundation piecing, I didn't think one was in my future. Then out came the three Inklingo New York Beauty collections and I was off to the races. The New York Beauty collections have it all - curved piecing, super spiky points, loads and loads of continuous stitching opportunities and you're guaranteed a good result as everything fits together perfectly every time!

Feathered Star

Barb made this gorgeous blue and white Feathered Star using the 20" Feathered Star collection. And all by machine!

She writes:

"Made completely by machine.  I never in a gazillion years could have made such a perfect feathered star completely by machine!  I always have felt confident in my hand piecing skills for perfect points.  But not had confidence I could do as well by machine.  Inklingo makes it easy!  And all those little half square triangles for the feathers are a snap!  I made this complete star in 2 days.  I even used the larger half square triangles from the collection to design the border.  They were a weird size, but I used a little spacer border to make up the difference and I love the way it makes the star float in the white background.  This one was such fun to make!"

Cathi made this miniature Drunkard's Trail quilt that finishes at 8" x 10" using the 2" Drunkard's Trail collection.
The quilt is destined for the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative.

Miniature Lucy Boston

Shirley has been making these tiny wonders ! Using (to some extent) the Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses collection (and book).
Here's what she writes :

I have always adored miniatures !  They just fascinate me.  Well.... at long last...... I DID figure out a way to make my POTC Name Tag  block.  I started with the line drawing on p.29, Lucy Boston, Patchwork of the Crosses. 

 The hardest part was dealing with fraying of the "1/4" connectors while sewing the y-seams but not so much so that I would give up....   To simplify, I just did a fold over binding from back to front and SID around all the hexagons. 

 INKLINGO ROCK

This mini is made from the same fabrics I made her Big Sister in (April 2011 entry in the Inklingo Projects Blog)    I learned from this 'Big Sis'  how to fussy cut better and .  The 12-piece crosses presented a problem with bulkier seams than I liked so I cut it in one piece; the same difficulty with the edge shapes as well - so I hand stitched a facing, scalloped the border and embellished with Inklingo Circles in the open spaces.  Size is 14" x 18" and 754 pcs.  if I counted right !  If Linda ever comes out with a smaller version of the POTC block pieces with those wonderful accurate crosshair markings, I will be VERY tempted to be one of "those" that make a 'big' miniature quilt.  Marking around templates that small by hand is just not as accurate as I like in comparison to printing in Inklingo fashion.  

Well, I loved your Big POTC-quilt, but this small one has me scraping my jaw from the floor. Just awesome, Shirley !!!

General Sunflowers!

Ruth is a busy bee :-) and has finished this gorgeous project.
She writes

Just wanted to send you a pic of my latest INklingo project.

It's a mix of double and single  sunflowers.

It was a joy to piece by hand.

Made completely of my favorite French General fabrics.

Again I so love Inklingo!

The centre is a medalion I added to calm down my choice of fabrics (thought it was a little busy with all the sunflower pieces)

It looks absolutely gorgeous, Ruth!

Miniature Feathered Star

Nancy in Alabama made this beauty.

She writes :

A couple of weeks ago I took a wonderful class taught by Marsha McCloskey sponsored by my quilt guild.  During the class we learned how to draft a feathered star.  I kept thinking I wanted to do a miniature version.  When the class ended I drafted a half inch feathered star.  

I found appropriate shapes in the 0.5" Log Cabin, 9" Storm at Sea, 6.75" Storm at Sea, and HST 00B collections.  Using Inklingo made piecing the little star easy and gave me the accuracy I needed.  The little quilt is 11.5" square.

Pies and Tarts

Jeannette from Oz has been busy (again!) and made this beauty for all of us to make a fuss about.

Jeannette writes :
I'm sending pictures of my Pie and Tarts quilt. It's all hand pieced except for the border, I sewed that on by machine.
The half Tarts around the edge ar all pieced in the same fabric as the border to give a scalloped look. I'm also showing a few fussy-cut blocks and a closeup of the border.
The quilt measures 82 x 96".
... now all I have to do is quilt the thing LOL.

Feathered Star

Charlsey made this Feathered Star quilt using the 20-inch Feathered Star collection.

She writes:
I used the 20" Feathered Star collection from Inklingo for the stars. The 6" center block of each square is different. I used Inklingo every time there was a shape available that I needed.
Also, for this quilt, I machine pieced most of the feathered stars, which is a very difficult task without Inklingo.
Inklingo enables me to attempt quilts I normally would dismiss as too cumbersome, time-consuiming or difficult. I enjoy the fact that I can be challenged in my quilt-making and at the same time know that I can be successful by using Inklingo as a tool.

Sherman's March

Charlsey made this beautiful quilt designed by Bonnie Blue Quilts using squares, rectangles and HSTs printed with Inklingo.
She writes:

"The pieces are flying geese, "rooftops", rectangles and squares.  The pattern is Inklingo friendly. I used Inklingo for most of the quilt."

Hexagon Bag / Tote

Jeannette from Down Under has made this gorgeous bag.
She writes :
I used 1" hexes and half hexes from collection 1 (editor's note : The same shapes are in the downloadable 1" Hexagon collection). The outside of the bag is hand pieced and the lining and pocket is machined. I hand quilted around the centre hexes and I used no 5 Perle black cotton at all intersections of the half hexes to put a large stitch along each seam with a black bead in the centre.
I hand stitched the handles on.
The bag measures 10 x 12"

Addy's Quilt - more Insanity

Lorraine in MI is working on an Insanity version with her sister-in-law. They are using the 0.75" hexagons (rather than the 0.50" ones the original pattern calls for). She writes :

We have more borders to add, but had to share our progress. This is for my SiLaw's granddaughter who loves red, stars and hearts.

There are not words to describe what a pleasure this project has been! Inklingo has made it a breeze to print and send and share in the stitching!

There are 3 more children needing heirloom quilts and we already have plans for those...all using Inklingo!

Dotty Pies and Tarts

Here's a picture of the quilt and closeup of the border . My "Dotty Pies and Tarts" was my first full size inklingo project completely hand pieced, What fun and so exact with Inklingo.

I've already started on my next Inklingo project, a Pickled Clamshells.

She has used some of the Hexagon block patterns found on the Inklingo Sampler blog and made this little beauty with inspiration from the Candied Hexagon-quilt which several Inklingoists are doing

Simone from Australia has finished this little beauty.
It is made with the 0.5" diamond collection and is all of 10.5 x 13.5"

Red and White Houses

Jeannette from Australia is making houses.
She writes :
I'm sending a picture of some of the Little Red School House blocks that I have made into 10" blocks using 1"x10" logs from the Log Cabin Collection.
I printed 2 logs for each house block. One log separates the roof from the walls, the other log is cut as follows:
3.5" to separate the side wall from the front of the house and the rest of the log needs to be reduced to 1.25" wide by cutting on the dotted line on 1 side only otherwise when sewn between the gable and the rest of the roof on the angle it is too wide.
After sewing in place I trimmed it to size. The sky piece is cut 2.5"x10.5". I used 2 chimneys on the roof and the sizes for the sky pieces in between are 1 each as follows; 2.5" x 2.75", 2.5" x 3.5", 2.5" x 3.75".
I have pieced them using my machine and I have made 21 houses so far for a Quilt pattern on the cover of the Australian Patchwork and Quilting Magazine volume 8 number 7.
The blocks in the book are 12".
I am very happy with the way they are turning out and I thought may be someone else might be interested in this size as well.

Red and White Log Cabin

Nancy in Alabama finished another project.
She writes :
I finished another small red and cream wall-hanging using Inklingo.
The little off set logs quilt is 22" square and uses 0.5" logs from the Log Cabin collection.

THE Hexagon Quilt - Insanity FINISHED !!!

YEA. Linda D. has FINISHED her Insanity quilt.
She writes :
"My "Insanity" quilt is finished. I added two extra rows to the top and bottom and another row to each side so now there are 11,127 hexagons. My quilt is called "THE Hexagon Quilt". It was of course hand pieced and hand quilted. This quilt has been a real labor of love and got me through a very difficult period in my life. Thank goodness for Inklingo."

... and just in case you have forgotten. This is made with hexagons that are 0.5" to the side. That's right. At their widest, from point to point, these hexagons are just 1", and the side of each hexagon is 0.5".

Awesome, Linda. Just awesome.

Yin, Yang and Log Cabins

Mary has been having a ball with the Yin Yang collection, and some Log Cabin blocks.
She writes :

For the log cabin blocks, I used 1.5” cut logs which I had already precut several years ago when I cut different sizes of “all” my Orientals.

Quilt is 66”x 75”

Now, Mary, you might have used strips you had already, but just so the readers of this blog knows : You can make the same kind of Log Cabin blocks using the 1" Log Cabin collection.
And I think it is a gorgeous quilt !

Stars on the table

Sue in Western New York state has finished a table-cloth using Inklingo. She writes :

The fabrics were in a package that I purchased at Quilt Market last fall.
The fabric is from Darlene Zimmermans Clothesline Club by Robert Kaufman. The kit is called Blue Ribbon Winner it is 60" square. I pieced the flying geese with Inklingo collection #2 - making the flying geese come perfect!
The instructions for the flying geese/star points is on page 66 of the Inklingo Handbook.

And a note : Collection # 2 is sold out, but you can make equally precise and easy Flying Geese with the 00B HST collection, which is downloadable and available :-)
